ART 380 NEGOTIAD LEARNING PLAN.

Relevance:

Following on from my previous practices which resolves around femininity and the perspectives of women in the modern world, I aim to experiment with wider range of artistic techniques to portray my project topic without repeating what I have previously created. I aim to stray away from my digital skills and focus on practising techniques such as painting and sculpting to better myself as and artist and expand my skill set. Although last semester I did branch out into painting, I want to focus primarily on abstract painting and how they can portray my views to my viewing audience with a more in-depth analysis, that isn’t so much as stating my point directly but is allowing the audience an opportunity to look for my opinion and viewpoints while creating their own in the process. I aim to experiment more with colour, pattern and texture bringing an extra element to my work allowing it to become more elevated and professional than my current practices.

Knowledge:

Emotionalism I feel best underpins my area of practices withing the context of my project, as my work aims not only to express my opinions on femininity and the perspectives of women in the modern world but also tries to covey them in a way that moves people, to act upon their opinions that being they are the same or different to mine, all are allowed to be expressed. My art is a record of my emotions and what I feel, and I want to be able to communicate that through my work to the on looking world. Due to me continuing my chosen topic of choice I have previously researched it artist that also use their work to communicate upon the topic of femininity, all of which are female artists. That being said I have been able to find some other artist so that my practise doesn’t become repetitive. The artists being, Frida Kahlo, Sarah Maple. Francesca Woodman, Niki De Saint Phalle and Georgia O’Keeffe. I feel all these artists along with the ones I have previous researched into can help play a big part in my learning as each one holds an induvial style that distinctive to them and the way they portray the chosen subject matter, all of which I can adapt and take inspiration from to create similar piece, along with newer ones, that help me to elevate my views.

Critical Evaluation (Analyses and critiques of work):

I am to challenge myself with experimentation with paints and how they are applied to a canvas to gain different effects, different textures and different shaped. I also plan on creating the canvas myself to get a more higher quality finish for me work and to understand the process behind making a canvas in which will provide a challenge for me as it is a process I am not used to. Creating my own canvas will ensure me to have an even special connecting towards my art as more hard work and dedication has gone into the production of the whole display rather than just the paint aspect of the work. In addition, I find creating a canvas will be more beneficial to me rather than simply purchasing and already made canvas as I can build it to my desired size without any hassle, and the skill of making my own can be reused in future practices.

I plan to research into abstract art to see how I can incorporate and mix in my subject matter to produce something magical. I have always liked the concept of abstract art, using different shapes, forms, colours, and lines to create a composition which creates a visual language to viewers, and I feel exploring abstract art specifically abstract painting, as I want to develop my painting skills, can allow me the freedom to present my opinions of my chosen project topic.

Professional Practice (Establishing a self-directed studio practice):
