Seth Tara

The images are quite powerful. Tara mixes historical photos of a certain place with modern pictures of the same place. Simplistic yet symbolic, this piece is telling me not to take everything I have for granted and always remember that my grandparents or great-grandparents fought and died for my freedom! The piece distinctively shows the powerful leader of Germany, Adolf Hitler in a separate image layered and merged into a secondary image which holds the background of the Eiffel tower in France along with to human figures in the foreground. The two individual images cohabit great together to reflect history and how far civilization has come from the two world wars.

Tara’s work initially screams to the viewing audience not to forget our history! Not to forget all the ugly, bad things that happened as it might happen again!

This piece is titled Bierstadt with Holes. It is an extravagant piece that reflects multiple viewpoints of different opinions. This piece of Bierstadt's romanticised frontier landscape has fallen to the floor, the image of the sublime having surrendered to the destructive forces of nature. The disintegrated painting appears to be riddled with holes from machine gun fire, whereas in fact the true culprit of the damage is a woodpecker. This piece captures both decay and destruction along with life, due to the state of the piece itself and the nature image it is showing. Nature symbolic to life and destruction is symbolic to death.

René

René’s is an elaborate painter and surrealist whose work is most immediately recognizable by icons such as Clouds, pipes, bowler hats, and green apples, all of which are still recognized in today art society. This empowering surrealist has created bodies of work that rendered such commonplace things strange, slotting them into unfamiliar or uncanny scenes, or deliberately mislabelling them to “make the most everyday objects shriek aloud.” With his pictorial and linguistic puzzles, René made the familiar disturbing and strange, posing questions about the nature of representation and reality.

Mirel Ologeanu

This is a mixed media piece that captures the empowering and  famous statue of liberty located in New York. Ologeanu uses narrative techniques to keep the viewer interested in order to make an interpretation of what the story of his work could be. Some of his work has a sense of sadness and loneliness to it with the colours he chooses to use. However, all the colours and materials used are significant in foreshadowing the subject maters importance. For example, in this piece the dark colour tones and bold writing helps elevate and highlight the main focus point of which is the statue of lady liberty her self, the blue colour shadows her perfectly and lifts her of the page.

Anselm Kiefer

This piece created by Anselm Kiefer was created in 1997 and it is titled "Your Age and Mine and the Age of the World" is part of an exhibition entitled "Dein und mein alter und das alter der Welt" which consists of five large paintings accompanied with a series of books in which where also made by the artist.

This piece is a painting of agony, of a journey through a bleak and devastated landscape. For, into symbolic beauty, the destructiveness of reality enters.

Brian G Coffey

This piece titled 'Complicated Journey' is created by Brian G Coffey. It is an abstract art piece which  holds to me in-depth emotions that are strong and empowering towards the viewing audience that enchant them a lure them to the work and all the detailed colour layered within. The entire creation process and freedom to create artwork brings excitement especially in a piece like this as you can clearly as as an audience member that is a lover of art each stroke and movement can be easily seen and calculated within the piece. From this artist I will take inspiration from the bold colour pallet and the way in which he uses them to added both texture and pattern along with depth and shadow.
