Dedicated to John Christian Curwen, Workington's MP at the beginning of the nineteenth century, 'Curwen's Column' is impressive in height and stature. The structure is made from steel rails manufactured in Workington steel works before it closed, and so is tied to two notable contributors to Workington town life.
